Wētā Workshop is excited to dive into the world of Thra and create premium collectibles for the prequel series, The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, which tells a new story, set many years before the events of the 1982 movie.
When three Gelfling uncover the horrific truth behind the power of the Skeksis, the fires of rebellion are kindled and an epic battle for survival begins.
Hup the Podling joins Weta Workshop's exquisitely detailed line of Dark Crystal collectibles; a line that pays homage to the richly layered, fantastical world of Thra.
OUR DARK CRYSTAL COLLECTIBLES
So rich and visionary was Jim Henson's 1982 passion project that it inspired dreamers across the creative arts, including a whole generation of film effects artists now working at Wētā Workshop. Released at a time when many of our crew were young and beginning to explore their own creative energies, The Dark Crystal was an eye-opener: it was possible to bring imaginary worlds to life, and it could be a career!
For years, those of us who had fallen in love with this world hoped that someday Thra might return to our screens. Thanks to Netflix, it has, and now we have the chance to express our fandom by creating super faithful, highly detailed collectible figures and prop replicas from The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance.
Among the peoples of Thra Podlings might be thought of as least, given their humbleness and short stature.
Living uncomplicated lives and delighting in simple pleasures, Podlings are usually peripheral to acts of boldness and heroism, but Hup is no ordinary Podling. What he might lack in physical presence, Hup more than makes up for in heart. Earnest and brave, with a deep sense of justice and loyalty, his dream is to be the first Podling Paladin to serve the All-Maudra.
But the Podling must set aside his hopes of recruitment when he meets the Gelfling Deet, instead becoming companion and protector to the Grottan on the perilous quest that has brought her above ground. No better friend will Deet find in Hup, and she will come to need the brave Podling's help, for the burden of knowledge she bears and the dangerous path she must walk cannot be managed alone.

The crescent shape of the Gelfling's base connects with the circular base of the brave Podling.
